if you walk from place to place, village to village, community to community with a conscious mind you can collect a bag full of experiences, people etc. then you try to compare things ( which is sometimes bad)& you tend to analyze your own experiences with the experiences of others. one can not be rational until that one has enough of things to compare or if he/she has not collated enough of life experiences.
Some can analyze future or predict about future looking at the present circumstances or with what is available at present. if you carefully look at a weva you sometimes can say whether that particular weva can be used in the future or how the people may use it in the future by looking at the conditions of the weva or the present situation of it. ( the maintenance of it)To observe these things you need to walk or need to travel. People say things depending on their experiences a farmer can say many things just looking at the 'sky' they can amazingly predict about 'rain' no matter whether it is the Maha season or the Yala. Because in the past compared to now their yield depended on all these natural things like 'rain' ' they knew the theory of 'wesi wessoth ganga pirei" .... the rational behind some things that some say unbelievable sometimes. those people actually walked from paddy land to paddy land or from chena to chena to collate experiences. these are actually very simple examples may be there is no big rational behind my ideas but i like to think that that is how people predict about future.
i don't see much difference between history makers and the prophets/rationalists. All of us are part of history every single person of this earth knowingly or unknowingly contributing or have contributed to history (country or otherwise) history is about how people have reacted, behaved, contributed their knowledge or their labour in the past.
